sign you aren’t prepared…

…for the last 10 days of ramadan…

…when you wake up in the morning and stretch, your calf muscles seize up in excruciating pain and you can’t move for 5 minutes.  Yeah, not fun.

In other random news, I can now add bus exhaust to the list of things I’m allergic to – cold (good thing I live in Minnesota, cuz it’s never cold here), work (yes, I’m allergic to work – my allergies only developed after I started my current job), pollen, pollution, cigarette smoke, etc.  Alhamdulilah I’m not allergic to my cat.  Lord knows what I would do then.

I really wish I had something profound and religiously deep to write about, but I’ve been a little bit dry in that area lately.  I have, however, been reading a fantabulous book (again), Wisdom for the Seeker by Sh. Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi.  I’ve been trying to get AbuS to listen to some lectures of some of the khilafas of Sh. Zulfiqar for months now, but it never seems to happen *sigh*  This book is chock full of things that make you go subhanAllah:

Hadra Umar ibn Aas (ra) was returning from the conquest of Egypt and found that a pigeon had built a nest in his tent.  Although the army was leaving, he ordered that his tent not be touched, and so he completed the rest of the journey without a tent so that the pigeon’s house would not be destroyed.

Hadrat Khawajah Baqibillah (ra) was once going back to bed after having prayed tahajjud.  It was intensely cold and he noticed that a cat had curled up in his bed and was sound asleep.  Hadrat shivered all night but did not disturb the cat’s sleep.

SubhanAllah!

  1. Dear Sis,

    Assalam alaikum,

Subhanllah how humble the Real Servants of Allah are!

It gives me immense pleasure to wirte to you again. Hope and pray you feeling better.
Just getting inspired to start a blog after reading yours but Im not so knowledgeable and eloquent.

Just wanted to quickly add here that our Prophet’s ( SAS, PBUH ) had a favorite cat named Muezza/Muizza.

I have been following the Suhabt’s of Sheikh Hisham Kabbani ( Fenton, Michigan, also form Naqshbandi Tariqah). I have found those talks/associations immensely spiritual, full of heavely knowledge- ther are live transmissions everday after Fajr, at Michigan Time, also there are recorded Suhabt’s. Please go the page http://www.sufilive.com. I hope you will also enjoy and learn from them as musch as I do.

Take care, and please remeber me in your prayers!

    Warm Regards
    Mehnaz

  2. salaam

wisdom For the seeker is the best book ever! If your calf muscles do that again, try more calcium/magnesium/potassium…works wonders

  3. wa alaikum assalam,

It is fantastic, isn’t it? I just wish there were a higher quality version available, but I’m just a bit snobbish about my books.
