islamonline crisis

As if the online muslim ummah couldn’t get any more messed up, today we have this:

IslamOnline goes offline

Workers’ jihad at Islamic Website

Islam Online in crisis as administration threatens to fire journalists

Going Off-line

Although I never agreed with everything written on the site (but then, when does anyone ever fall 100% in lock step with everything?), I’ve always appreciate the diversity of opinions found at Islamonline, especially when the question and answer section would reference multiple opinions from a variety of madhabs and scholars.   I would be very sad to see this voice taken offline, or radically changed to just a single point of view.

Is it fair for a group of people to move in and take over an established website, dramatically changing it’s direction?

Also, twitter confuses me.  I’m trying to follow the goings on here, but it’s like, all in code or something.
